Things To Think About Before Your Wedding*

*This is a collaborative post*

When it comes to definitive guides regarding wedding planning, the advice you’ll find in here covers every big thing you’ll need to think about before your big day. Take a lot of some of the pointers given below and check them against your ‘To Do’ list to make sure that you’ve covered everything which needs to be done before you get hitched.

The venue.

The venue is obviously the centrepiece of your wedding. It defines the entire theme and backdrop of the wedding, but it’s probably one of the things that will most stick in your mind from this big day. And the most important piece of advice is to arrange the venue a year in advance. In fact, you should be booking it at least a year in advance if you want to be sure that you’ll get the venue for your special day. This isn’t something on which you want to compromise, so don’t overthink the decision; if there’s an opening then take it or someone else will.

The dress.

Whether it’s the bride or groom who’s reading this, you both know how important the dress is to this big day. Yes, a smart suit for the groom is important too, but it’s not the same as the dress. Don’t compromise in this area. If you can’t find a wedding dress that feels right in any of the shops you visit then that doesn’t mean you have to settle for whatever is in stock; the range is often limited anyway. If you know how you wanted the dress to look stylistically and in terms of colour then that’s how you need to make it look; getting it custom-made is always an option, as suggested over at aimeeraindropwrites.co.uk. Whatever you choose to do, just make sure it’s the dress and not just “a” dress. If you’re the groom then leave it to the bride because she’ll know what that means.

The service.

Organising the caterers, music, or any other service providers necessary for your wedding is an exhausting task. You’re relying on a lot of other people, and that’s why it’s important for you to be flexible to some extent with the suppliers (and all aspects of your wedding, in fact). Whilst you want everything to go perfectly, and rightly so, you have to be prepared for the possibility that things could go wrong. A supplier might fail to turn up on the day, somebody important might fall ill, or a multitude of other things might go wrong. You might want to check out options such as wedinsure.co.uk to create a safety net for your wedding day; insuring yourself means that you’ll recover your expenses and be able to re-plan the wedding straight away (rather than years down the line), should you have to cancel for any reason. In any case, it’s important that you have some sort of backup plan in place for any problem; if there’s bad weather and you’re having an outdoor wedding then make sure you’ve some form of indoor venue ready to save the day.

The guest-list.

It’s important that you do this right at the start of the planning process, but then it’s important that you do everything at the start of the planning process. As mentioned over at onefabday.com, if you’re getting married at a very busy time of year and you’re worried that people might not all be free on the date you choose then it’s vitally important to send our invitations before making any irreversible booking decisions. You want to be sure that the people you love can attend on the date you choose before you make big plans.

Are you getting married soon? If so, when's the big day?
