The Aristocats is one of my all-time favourite Disney films. I've watched it countless times, and know all the lyrics to all the songs. I also have the Marie, Toulouse and Berlioz Tsum Tsums. I think Marie is my favourite, because she has killer attitude, but I also adore Duchess. She's so regal and such a loving mum.
Anyway. The other day, I had the well-known song "Everybody Wants To Be A Cat" stuck in my head. For no apparent reason. And it gave me an idea for a blog post. Because, given half the chance, I'd love to be a cat. So here are five reasons why I want to be a cat.
1. Sleep all day. Cats are famous for the amount of time they spend asleep. I think adult cats sleep for at least 16 hours a day. I would love to spend that amount of time asleep. My life has a tendency to fall apart when I'm awake, ya know?
2. Eat all you want. Okay, so, cats don't have to stick to any kind of diet. Treats from their owners, regular meals, and even the odd mouse or bird captured outside. Cats don't care if you think they're fat. And there's no expectation on cats to look a certain way. I'd love to live that way; never caring whether I look a certain way or forbidding myself the odd treat here and there.
3. No responsibilities. The only responsibility a cat has it to itself. They aren't the most loyal of creatures, and won't hesitate to leave an owner if they feel slighted in some way. Totally selfish creatures. And sometimes I think it would be nice to be so selfish, and to put yourself first all the time.
4. A cosy, comfy life. Cats get to spend all day curled up on the warmest, fluffiest, softest blanket in a warm, central heated house. Indoor cats are the luckiest, but even cats that spend time outdoors get to come home to a warm bed to curl up in or a warm radiator to sprawl out on. What could be better than never having to leave the comforts of a warm home?
5. No money? No problem! Cat's have no need for money. All their food, toys and other needs are catered for by somebody else. They don't have to worry about paying bills, keeping the fridge stocked up or going to work. And that just sounds like a dream life, to be honest. Wouldn't you agree?
What do you think? Would you like to be a cat?
