With this year drawing to a close, it's about time I check back in with my 2017 goals. Since I set them for myself, back in January, I've revisited and revised them. You can find out which of my goals were changed in my 2017 Goals Check-In post. Here's how I got on with my goals this year!
1. Save £1000. Not even close. I did, at least, open a new savings account. This is a goal I'll be working on in 2018!
2. Fit into a size 14. Autumn/Winter is a really shitty time of year to try to lose weight. Another goal to work on in 2018.
3. Read 105 books. Smashed this. At the time of writing this post, I've read 115 books, and am well on my way to getting another few books read before 2018 arrives!
So, I didn't do as well as I'd hoped with my personal goals in 2017. I arguably failed at two of the most important goals on my list; weight loss and finances are high on my 'must improve' list for 2018! Now onto my blogging goals, which I'm pleased to say I did a lot better with!
1. Reach 60 newsletter subscribers. I'm actually surprised to say I hit this goal. I stopped sending out a newsletter about halfway through the year. And I was never particularly regular with my updates before that. I may resurrect the old newsletter in 2018. We'll see.
2. Makeover my blog. I did this on New Year's Day, I think! And I did it again, fairly recently. I love the new look, but I'm looking into migrating to Wordpress in 2018 as my big blogging goal!
3. Meet blogging friends in person. Not friends, friend. But it still counts. I got to meet the lovely Steph, who I'm now firm friends with, and she came to our wedding in September! We've shopped, had coffee dates, and even been on a double date together with our other halves.
4. Make plans to attend a blogging event next year. I don't know what's going on next year, yet, and if I'll be in a good enough place mentally to go.
5. Reach 2.5k on Twitter. My Twitter growth has been so good this year! Can't wait to improve it next year.
6. Reach 1.5k on Instagram. On the other hand, Instagram has just been awful this year. Could they please give smaller brands/bloggers an opportunity for growth too?
7. Reach 200 on Facebook. My growth hasn't been bad on Facebook, but nowhere near what I had hoped. And people keep 'unliking' my page - what's that all about?!
8. Reach 350 on Bloglovin'. With the great Bloglovin' scandal of 2017? Growth has stalled.
9. Keep posts scheduled a week in advance. I've gotten into a nice groove with this. Monday's are post and tweet scheduling days. I'm always, at least, a week in advance now!
10. Work with 20 new to my blog companies. I've worked with so many different companies on my blog this year. And I'm so grateful to everyone who's chosen to work with me! Hopefully I can continue with the great collabs in 2018.
I really smashed it with my blog goals this year. I'm actually really pleased with how well I've done, and I'm not too worried about the few I didn't hit. Growth on some social media platforms this year (IG - looking at you, babe) has been awful for so many of us smaller bloggers. So I don't take it to heart anymore. I just hope I can carry this motivation forward into 2018, and make it another great year!
Did you set yourself any goals for 2017? If so, how did you get on?
