1. Take the extra biscuit/a nap/the last slice of cake. By this I mean; life's too short. This year I've learnt to put myself first more; whether that's by helping myself to an extra roast potato, allowing myself another hour in bed, or just saying no to something I don't want to do.
2. Self-care is hella important. When I'm struggling with my mental health, self-care is the first thing to slide. But I've learnt that relaxing with a good book, indulging in a Lush bath, or painting my nails can do me the power of good.
3. There are more important things in life than your weight. I spent most of this year miserable, trying to lose weight for our wedding. I didn't lose any. And you know what? I felt like a million dollars on our wedding day. And looking back at the wedding photos now, three months later? I still feel like a million dollars. I am more than my dress size, my weight. And life is about more than what you weigh.
4. It's okay to let some friendships go. This year, I lost someone I considered to be my best friend. There was some nastiness, from her to me, not the other way around. And rather than rolling over and taking it, or crawling back to her, I blocked that bitch and moved the fuck on. Life's too short for toxic people, Holly got that right!
5. I am tougher than I ever realised. This year, I overcame the biggest obstacle in my life so far. Our wedding. I was such an anxious mess in the run-up to our wedding day, and I honestly didn't think I could walk up that aisle in front of all of our friends and family. But I did. I didn't love it, but I did it. And I'm so proud of myself, because now I'm married to my best friend. And that's the best reward.
What life lessons have you learnt this year?
